Job description: The project ISLANDAP, R+D+I Towards Aquaponic Development in the Ultraperipheric Islands and the Circular Bioeconomy, (MAC/1.1A/207), financed under the Interreg MAC 2014-2020 Programme, aims to reinforce the I+D+I in sustainable production applying aquaponics adapted to the conditions in the Ultra-peripheral EU regions, creating a multidisciplinary network that promotes the sustainable primary production, the revalorization of bio-resources, biotechnology, circular economy and education in these areas. Admission Requirements The ideal candidate will have a degree in Marine Biology (or other related field), with work experience in aquaculture trials:
The work will be coordinated by Carlos Andrade (PhD), Silvia Lourenço (PhD) and Natacha Nogueira (Msc.) at the Mariculture Centre of Calheta – Madeira Fisheries Directorate, in Madeira Island (Portugal). Duration 1 year, renewable up to 25 months. Salary 745.00 €/month tax free - ARDITI research fellowship (BI - Licenciado) monthly maintenance stipend and regulations are determined by ‘FCT-Fundação para a Ciência Tecnologia’ (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.en). Evaluation criteria The following evaluation criteria will be applied: FS = QA + EP FS – Final Score QA – Qualifications EP – Experience QA: 5 points – Degree in Marine Biology (or related field of study) EP: 4 points - Proven experience with maintenance of the closed rearing systems of the aquatic animals; 4 points - Proven experience with setting up and conducting of feeding trials; 3 points - Proven experience with aquatic ornamental species; 2 points - Proven experience with aquaponics systems; 2 points - Proven experience in data analysis and reporting. The selection is done based in the high FS score. In case of score tie between the top scored candidates, there will be a selection interview (I) to those candidates. The final score is obtained by the following formula: 0.6 x FS + 0.4 x I. If there is no interview, the final score will be equal to that obtained in the FS. The selection interview evaluation factors, if it is carried out, are: specific knowledge to carry out the work plan, motivation for the activities planned, ability of expression and attitude.
